Used to the wringer could (and did) eat kids arms. Do you use the modern method, bashing the clothes on a rock by the river?
I helped washed clothes on one as a very young child. And remember the warnings that it might grab you and hurt you. Great shot, and memories.
I don't even like laundry in a modern washing machine let alone in a hand tub! No thanks (but what a great image)!
Wonderful antique washer. My neighbor has one that he uses to squeeze the water out of the chamois when he washes his cars!!
An evocative shot- to think what an improvement they were and how much work was still involved. Must have been a well built machine to stand out for so long.
