An evocative shot- to think what an improvement they were and how much work was still involved. Must have been a well built machine to stand out for so long.
I am an avid (if not especially talented) amateur photographer. That's my third love. My first is my horses. My second is my cats.
I also have a small organic garden, big enough for my husband & I, and to share a bit with some friends and family.
I train my little horses to harness, and teach them tricks, like bowing, lying down, etc. I'm working on dressage movements with one!
I wouldn't, but the rusty texture looks fabulous!
ReplyDeleteUsed to the wringer could (and did) eat kids arms. Do you use the modern method, bashing the clothes on a rock by the river?
ReplyDeleteI helped washed clothes on one as a very young child. And remember the warnings that it might grab you and hurt you. Great shot, and memories.
ReplyDeleteI don't even like laundry in a modern washing machine let alone in a hand tub! No thanks (but what a great image)!
ReplyDeleteWonderful antique washer. My neighbor has one that he uses to squeeze the water out of the chamois when he washes his cars!!
