13 - Architectural Detail
This strange little purple house is a thrift store for a homeless shelter. I haven't figured out what this brick column was for. I thought fireplace, but it's too long and narrow, and there's nothing inside, except a small divider of brick. I'm not sure that it was ever a house to be lived in, because it's in a retail district, but a lot of houses were torn down to put the retail stores in. I can't imagine a use for the column, but it's interesting, anyway (to me at least)! Now, the purple is something else again . . .

To me, this is a great composition and what you've done in processing is terrific. It is really appealing how you reduced it down to the basic lines and color blocks and then added the texture. I really love this...
ReplyDeleteThis is one of those images that makes me really happy that I sat down to browse the blogs this afternoon. ;-)
Great picture and love that texture!!
ReplyDeleteI know your shot is Art, but I am lacking that bone in my body, the story intrigues me more, Iknow it is not good form to photographe the homeless, but I would love to see more of this kind of facility, Is it like a thrift shop? and I would love to see the reflections in those green windows. Weird aren't I!
ReplyDeleteI like you you pulled in to get the geometry of the building; the processing helps maintain that elemental form.
ReplyDeleteI love purple but even I am not sure I could have a purple house. It certainly is curious what that column is....of course, you could probably find out by pulling out some selected bricks. If it came tumbling down, well, there's your answer!
ReplyDeleteSunny, this is really nice, great for the theme and I love what you did to in processing.
ReplyDeleteInteresting shot and story. It would be nice to know what it is.
ReplyDeletePerhaps that column just houses some small exhaust chimney for a furnace. Nice colors, composition and processing in this shot.
