Well, I got Ladyhawk and Symphony home yesterday afternoon. I turned them out for a little while this morning. It was dark and grey, as it's supposed to rain (for the next week +), so I grabbed a few quick shots of baby Symphony. Here's the first at-home shot of her. (Isn't she gorgeous? I just can't take my eyes off of her!)Mama Ladyhawk has a funny hair cut. It's called a foaling clip or belly clip, and it's to keep new babies from getting mouthsful of hair when they're looking for meals. Too much hair in a foal's tummy can cause serious, even fatal, problems, so a foaling clip is pretty standard for miniature mares. In a few weeks, you'll not be able to tell she ever had a bare (or nearly bare) tummy!

ReplyDeleteVal, I have a miniature horse trailer! It's made specifically for the little ones, and I have to duck just a little (I'm 5'2".) to get inside!
