175 - Logs

Our Christmas present from my brother-in-law:  A load of firewood.  We are using the last of last year's wood while this load seasons.  It is much prettier than the seasoned wood, but produces too much smoke.  So we bring the ugly grey wood indoors, bypassing the lovely golden colored fresh wood.  I thought it would work OK for this theme (even though they're split logs, rather than whole ones).

  1. Nice colour in this picture. good composition with the leading lines. And on a non=photograophic note - What a great gift! Especially since you didn't have to split it. Did he stack it for you too?

  2. We stacked it together! My husband was at work, so it was a nice surprise when he came home!

  3. What a thoughtful gift (and rich colors at that) - perfect for art and to keep warm with!

  4. Multi use is fine, photos this season and fuel next, makes sense not to have the smoke unless Mosquitoes are a problem but then you have Buffalo Pats to fix that don't you.

  5. No buffalo pats, Ron, sorry! Donkey and horse, uh, stuff (aka road apples) draws flies, so those don't work unless you're really good at throwing them and hitting the mosquitos!
Besides, the mosquitos are outside. The smoke is inside. Hack, cough, snort, wheeze!

  8. We are on our second load of wood, 3 cords plus! It is cold here most of the year, not too many flies at anytime!
