33 - Break the Rule of Thirds

I took this the other day at a park in Plano, Texas.  This little leaf just refuses to go down!  If there had been a theme of perseverance (or stubbornness--oh, I don't know, the donkey would probably have won that one!), this single leaf might have been just right for that.
I thought this looked like an interesting macro photo, but I took it with my 70-300 lens.  It was the lens I had on the camera, so I just stood back from it and fired away.  Most of the ones were out of focus, because it was handheld, and the shutter speed wasn't all that fast, but this one came out surprisingly clear!  So, here it is.  (I never have quite decided if it really breaks the rule of thirds, but it's the closest I could come!)

  1. Well it's smack in the middle right where it should be. Lovely tones and light in this.

  2. Just before I read Ellen's comment, I thought...it is smack in the middle! Well, that is two of us, now. Beautiful leaf, even if it is breaking the rules.

  3. Lovely - I like the lighting and the light area of the background that highlights the leaf.

  5. I think you have personified the term, Hangeronability cause the shot shows that the leaf has it.

  10. I would hang this on my wall for everyone to see, it is a great picture. I understand the rule of thirds but "I" don't think I apply it often.

  11. This is a lovely mody shot. It looks like it was taken at night, giving an additional air of mystery to the late lingering leaf.

  12. If you can't break that leaf's hold, you might as well break those rules. Nice shot!

  13. All rules were meant to be broken,....but when is the problem. In this case it, like others have said, is right where it should be. PS I think a macro would have been difficult as the twig in front of the leaf would have interfeared unless you cropped to the right.
